We visited an art school in Bhutan. The programs are very structured and focused on traditional art forms. Students specialize in one area, such as mask making, painting, etc.

Very different from the art school I went to which was more of a free for all. Smoking was allowing in the classroom and the painting studio was smokey most of the time. It is a wonder the cigarettes and all the chemicals didn’t cause a fire. Students wore wild clothes, smoked pot in the stairwell and thought they had amazing things to express. A lot of bad art was made, but there were some students who were really talented and worked hard and made some wonderful pieces. It was one of the best times of my life and it makes me sad that art schools are now too expensive for many students.
